"Too many locals"

My stay at Breezes Puerto Plata would have been a lot nicer if they didn't allow the locals into the resort. My stay was from Sunday to Sunday and by Thursday the locals overran the resort. They were in the swimming pool fully clothed, smoking drinking, and making a lot of noise. I was not able to enjoy my trip from Friday to Sunday. If you opt for a room with a kitchen, please make sure the appliances are working or you're better off getting the all-inclusive, eventhough the food is not that great. If you get a chance visit the restaurant Mura Mai in Sosua, it was the best meal we had the whole 7 days. Other than that the employees at the resort were great. They made the trip more enjoyable and the country is just beautiful.

"The best time I have ever had"

I went to Breezes Puerto Plata on May 15-May 22 with my best friend’s family because her and her boyfriend had decided to get married there. I loved it from the second we arrived on the resort. The staff is exceptional and they make you feel so welcome. They are constantly singing and dancing which always kept a smile on my face.
Personally I did not find the language barrier bad, some of the staff was more difficult to understand than others, but they tried their hardest to understand what you were saying. The entertainment staff work very hard and are very good at what they do. They seem to make friends with everyone they spoke to. They organize funny little games by the pool and some days they have Spanish lessons.
The nightly shows were excellent, and very energetic and well organized. They also have scuba lessons in the pool. They have announcements for this so if you are by the pool make sure you listen for them if you are interested. They also have a list of the daily events outside the towel check. The pool was excellent, it was not cold.
The drinks were a bit strong but all you need to do is explain to them that you don’t want so much alcohol and they will listen to you. The room I stayed in was on the bottom floor and it was damp and the water wasn’t hot but I could have cared less. The room was not important to me since the only time I was in it was to sleep. We went to all the restaurants French, Japanese, Italian (for the wedding dinner), and Mexican and of course Jimmy’s Buffet. They all had delicious food and we were all very impressed. The lineups were not bad at all; you just need to get there at a reasonable time. Maybe around 6 or ten after 6 for the 6:30 dinner and if you don’t feel like going at that time or if you do get there late and there is a lineup, they take reservations at 6:30 for the 8:30 sitting. I do highly recommend you try all the restaurants. There was also a gift shop, a little convenient store, a photo place, hair salon, spa, a massage place and gym. I didn’t go in the ocean but the majority of the time it was a red flag. To the guys who think it’s a good idea to put your room key or safe key in your shorts pocket while you are swimming in the ocean, think again. Sometimes the ocean is so strong that the key(s) will get swept away and you will have to pay for another. Plus if your safe key gets lost they have to break the safe which has a cost as well. It happened to a couple of people while we were there. Try to meet as many people as you can and make the most of it. It was an experience I’ll never forget.
