"Paradise at a GREAT RATE!"
Arrived at 2pm and got an excellent greeting and oceanfront room in Building 4. Pool, jacuzzi, and tiki bar overlook the ocean with great sea breezes were right at my doorstep. Buffet is the best for all meals. Fresh omlettes, mangos, smoothies were great for breakfast. Lunch had a great salad bar and grilled steak and chicken. Dinner was a themed event, though often a repeat, it was good. The quiet side pool grill is excellent for a quick burger or grilled cheese sandwhich. Thursday Night BBQ on the Beach with lobster, Steak, Grilled Fish, lamb is a MUST. Fajitas at the Mexican Restaurant, Filet dish at the Italian and steak at the grill is ok for Dominican Cuisine. Staff is very helpful and friendly. You can't beat the paradise for the price. My friend stayed at Grand Flamenco, and no oceanfront view rooms available and staff not as accomodating. I liked the way restaurants, casino, pools and beaches are so easy to get to. GREAT shopping on the beach, get your pesos at the plaza bank (not at the hotel) and haggle with all prices, I think it's expected... :) . Great Family vacation resort, all ages seem to have a great time. Evening shows are like thier restaurants.. not bad for Dominican talent. The pizzaria offers late night snacks and desserts for the night owels. Casino is on-sight, dancing at Grand Flemco just a 5 minute walk. The room was clean, GREAT VIEWS, towels are washed in the morning, and returned in the afternoon, one or two towels were always left in my room, TV remote control and safe locks can be obtained at front desk. I had a great time, and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing all inclusive resort!
"Would Never Go Back"
My friend and I were looking forward to staying at a 4 star resort, but Playa Dorada was far from it. When we got there, they lost our reservation and I was arguing with them for an hour to get either tower 5 or 6. The ceiling was leaking in our room which had to be repaired. The maids take the towels from the rooms in the morning, and they are not replaced until 4 or 5 in the afternoon...this was really annoying because you had to use toilet paper to dry your hands. You should plan on taking a shower before 6 p.m., otherwise there is no water coming from the shower stall for almost 2 hours. The only food that I enjoyed was the mango and the pizzas at night time. The mexican restaurant is the best a la carte to go to, we disliked the italian, and we don't know why they call the grill a la carte when they provide salad and dessert buffet. They don't freshly blend any of the drinks, everything comes from a slushy machine. The weather was beautiful, but I was happy to leave the resort and return home for some good food! Although I hated the resort, my friend and I had an awesome time together. We went kayaking and horse back riding, both of which are included.
