The Allegro Punta Cana appeals to families and couples seeking a spacious beach for sunbathing and relaxation as well as day-and-night activities and entertainment. A marble-floor lobby with rattan seating and potted plants under a three-story thatched roof featuring a skylight exemplifies the resort's casual, open-air ambience. Renovation to all public areas including the lobby and restaurants was completed in November 2004.

The resort's beach is 320 meters (350 yards) long and 55 meters (60 yards) deep. A lagoon-style freshwater pool includes a children's section. Snorkeling gear, small sailboats, and windsurfers are included along with guided horseback rides. A mini-casino is just off the lobby and a sports bar provides all the big sports matches on a large-screen television, along with games including ping-pong and billiards.

A contemporary two-story health-and-beauty spa graced by stone walls and mahogany-stained furniture, including lounge seating with extra-thick cushions, features a large spa tub in a stone-lined solarium and a shaded relaxation garden containing a gentle rock waterfall trickling into a lily pond. The spa has a couples' room and offers massage, body treatments, facials, hydrotherapy, reflexology, and Vichy showers. Two treatment rooms are housed in a wood cabin located on the second floor. The spa also offers waxing and hair and nail care and includes saunas and a steam room (surcharges for all spa and beauty treatments and services).

Featuring thatched shades and palm trees, the resort's sandy beachfront is 320 meters (350 yards) and provides plenty of space for relaxing and shaded snoozing on lounge chairs. A lagoon-style pool encircling a garden island offers freshwater swimming.

Guests can enjoy use of four lighted tennis courts, snorkeling gear, small sailboats, and windsurfers, as well as guided horseback rides (limited to 30 minutes per guest per week). Additional horseback riding, along with motorized water sports such as fishing trips, parasailing, water skiing, and scuba diving certification courses are available for surcharges.

Rooms

The all-inclusive Allegro Resort offers 540 guestrooms in nine, mustard-brown, three-story buildings without elevators. Rooms feature furnished balconies, TVs providing U.S. cable channels, and coffeemakers. In-room safes carry a surcharge. Decor includes tile floors, soft yellow walls, and soft orange accent walls, bright sun sculptures above the headboards, burnt-orange bedspreads, white curtains, and warm-tone furniture. Bathrooms feature shower/tub combinations, blue tiles, and contemporary basin sinks.
